Hello. My name is Peter. I am a new member to the forum. I have been a budgie owner and hobbyist breeder for the past 7 years. I have become intrigued by the Quaker and am seriously looking for one to be my buddy. I had a wonderful budgie named Char Char who was truly a pal. He loved me and loved to spend time with me and talk to me. Unfortunately, we lost him last summer through an unfortunate accident when he flew away, and we never found him. My other budgies are tame and sweet, but they are flock mates and none of them has ever become the companion bird that Char Char was. From the research I've done, I believe that a Quaker is the right choice for me and my household. I've already learned a lot from quakerparrots.com and the forum. I've located a small scale breeder in San Antonio, TX and hope to find the right bird soon. I look forward to learning more and getting to know other bird lovers in the forum.

Hi Peter, Welcome to the forum, I`m pretty new on this forum too, but it is a great, friendly site.

I hope you get your quaker soon they are great birds. I have a 15 week old quaker called Kes, I got my bird without doing any research first but I`m learning things very quickly and enjoying the experience. Once again a big welcome and I`m sure you will love this forum.
Here`s a picture of my Kes.

Hi, I'm new here, too! I've had my Quaker for 1 month. He is the sweetest little thing! Could you post pics of some of your budgies? My sister would love to see them. She has two little budgies. Speaking of budgies, my sister thinks she has two males. Will they fight? Also, can females have ANY blue on the nose? I think you would love a Quaker! They are so friendly and personable. I hope you get one! Post pics if you do! Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome, everyone!
I bought "Guide to the Quaker Parrot" today. I'm enjoying it.
Lexi...tell your sister not to worry about two male budgies fighting. They are usually best friends. Females are much more likely to fight....especially over a male. A young female does have blue on her cere, but by 6 months at the latest, you should be able to distinguish a male from a female. I've gotten so I can tell by the time they are 5 or 6 weeks old.
I'll look for the "other birds" part of the forum and post some of my budgies.

Thanks, I'll tell her. That book is FULL of good information. When I got KeeWee, the old owners gave me everything, including that book. Can't wait to see pics!

I feel so bad for the Quakers (or any birds) that have parronts who do not do their homework before they get their little feathered friends.
There's nothing like a Quaker. They are smart little green chickens for sure! It's so nice to hear you have done your research.
