This little LB that came in as a found bird 6 months ago. He is very shy... has not done much other then successfully convert to healthy diet and socialize supervised with the healthy flock. Earilier in the week, he flew to my head when I called him...that was WILD.
That was a big deal- it means he KNOWS his name and even though he is very hand shy still (we started target training 2 months ago and so it is going quite sloooooooooowly) he came to me when I wanted to take him to the birdroom for bed!
Right now, he is sitting perched on my knee. I was working laying on my bed with the laptop... so shocked was I that he came to sit on me. I just talked to him as usual, did not move at all. I went back to typing. He fluffed up and for the first time- started GRINDING! Right now, I need to pee but I don't want to get up because he is dozing!
So great, so great, I'm so happy!
He is a gorgeous, large sized violet. He seems to really be starting to open up. My suspicion was that he was just a caged, seed fed bird and one day either escaped or was just tossed out like trash. At any rate, his people are not to be found anywhere. Its been a lot of time, I wish somedays (like today) I had more time to concentrate on them one on one. I get 2 training sessions in/day with each though, and that is just all I can do most of the time so I don't want to confuse them. Right now, there is only him and a very deprived caique here other then my forever feathers. So, maybe that has made the difference- not much in/out traffic for a few months (thankfully!!!!!).
I am wondering if I should consider a qp sooner then next spring? Then again... one never knows what happens around Christmas. Sadly.
At any rate, excuse my babble! I'm just happy!
