Full Version: Play Gym Recommendations?

Has anyone found any really nice play gyms that they would recommend? I'm looking, and found at least one that I like, but I thought I would see if anyone else had found something they really liked. I am looking at the wooden play gyms that are built on a formica type base (for easy cleanup). Here is the one I am looking at.

If no one has anything they particularly like, I would appreciate opinions on if this one appears to be large enough, and most of all, if there are any safety concerns to be on the lookout for. Thanks.

I recently ran across that page and loved that play stand! It looks nice me! I don't see any concerns but that's coming from an untrained eye. Would you get the PVC stand also? Good luck! wink.gif

I find a lot of those dowel gyms are a little too small for a Quaker. You can make one yourself by purchasing dowels at places like Home Depot
Flying Feathers
That is a cute play gym. Personally I like the "tree" gyms made from tree branches. I recently got a great deal on two tree stands/gyms at a nearby bird fair! One for the BIG birds and one just for the Quaker! Wish I could download a pic of the gyms but my computer is giving me fits again.

The reason I prefer the "tree" stands/gyms over the dowel play gyms are that the branches provide better gripping & also variable widths on the same branch thus exercising the bird's feet. I've even considered buying some of the grape vine or dragonwood branches/perches and making my own but haven't done it yet. I will check to see if I still have their card with the web addy. Most of the ones I have found like I bought at the bird fair were very expensive online and locally at the pet/bird shops. Keep looking every now & then you "luck up" on a great deal like I did! If possible you may want to see if there is a bird fair near you so you can check out what they have. They usually have better prices at bird fairs.

Hopefully someone will soon be able to provide you with some additional play gyms for you to check out and decide which would be the best for your bird & your budget. If I find the business card I will get back to you on it to check it out. I've purchased these "tree" stands before & love them & the price!

Good luck with finding a play gym. Let us know what you finally decide on & how your bird likes his play gym!

If I go with that one, I will pass on the stand. We have an ottoman in the living room that she can be set up on and be the center of everything. Besides, it seems to me that the prices that most places charge in not much less than criminal. $75 for that stand is shocking.

You could easily make your own PVC stand to go with it for a fraction of the cost.

This is a great play stand! Its kinda pricey but totally worth it. Also all the rings for toys are a big plus!
And if you have 2 fids its big enough to give each of them their own space.

Hey folks, I went ahead and bought that playgym that I originally posted about. It came nicely packaged and was a snap to put together. Chula LOVES it. I took some pictures of her playing with it, but I have to get them moved over to this system so I can post them.
