Hi ,
This is Sally and Daniel ! We are the proud parronts of our Quaker Parrot Sweet Pea, he's awesome.
We liked the forum when we first got him back in March, he was about 6 mos old at the time we came here
and read a lot on the site. I kept checking back now and then so I signed us up. Figured Why not. Seen some pretty birds on here too. Birds are really cool pets this is our first bird and I could'nt be more pleased. I don't think enough people know how cool birds are.
Later,

Welcome to the Forum. Your bird sounds so very sweet....I have been owned by my quaker, Mr. Kiwi for almost 10 yrs. He is the "Utmost" sweetheart" He still does have his moments....LOL. but overall we love each other and tolerate each other...ha ha. When I first got Kiwi, we did NO research as my Hubby was looking for a bird to occupy my mind and time after the death of my son. Mr. Kiwi definitely did both....and he has for almost 10 yrs.......

And a lil More about sweetpea he loves mcd's french fries, he has tried cottage cheese, macaroni and beef, ms. schuberts yeast rolls, mnm ice cream cookies, cheezits he likes a lot his favorite drink is capri sun pacific cooler. He loves to laugh and does so at the strangest times so cute ! And he likes a lot of different things but he's not extremely fond of the colors yellow and red, I've noticed that. No, the green cheek is a conure, quite different then a quaker. By the way, you want to be careful feeding your bird "the fast food stuff" it contains too much fat and alot of other things that are not good for our birds. I learned the hard way. I was feeding Kiwi seed and pellets the first four years of his life and he started acting strange so I took him to my Vet. She ran some tests and he had a high liver enzyme count, which could lead to liver disease. I immediately took him off of seed....He is ok now....

Hi there and welcome! I don't post a whole lot, but I'm always here reading. It is a great community where I've gained a lot of knowledge.
Quaker parrots ARE so cool and I'm always surprised when people say they've never heard of them. They are surely missing out.
Nancy
Oh, btw, those Schuster rolls your Sweetpea likes are my absolute favorite rolls of all time!

Welcome to the forum. I'm so glad you are loving your bird! Be careful with anything sweet and anything salty as well as dairy products.
Plain yogurt and cottage cheese are OK for birds because the lactose is broken down in them. Ice cream has two faults, the sugar and the dairy product.
There are so many good foods you CAN give them. There is a list on the forum somewhere. Maybe someone could direct you to it.
Everyone should have a bird for a month and then they'd know what we know. They'd know how great, how sweet and how very entertaining they can be (and how hard they CAN bite!)
We're looking forward to pictures. OK?

Welcome! Yes, I had no idea how much fun a bird could be - or how much work! Go easy on the dairy, sugar, and salt so your baby will be around a long time.

Thanks all for the welcome. Appreciate it. So many pretty birds here. We know we shouldnt feed them excess of these salty items and so on, He loves them though! He only gets a little bit here and there! If it makes him happy then we are happy!
