My poncho has a yeast infection. The vet told me she shouldn't have anything with sugar or honey. When I got home i checked the ingredients in her food. Her neckton vitamins has sucrose as the first listed ingredients. Her other vet told me to get these vitamins. Her pellets, zupreen contain dextrose. The quicko egg powder contains honey. Does anyone know of powder vitamins that do not contain sugar? I will try the roudybush pellets they are sugar free. Also I don't know how long she has had this she was given an antibiotic injection in August. The vet doesn't think that is the cause. She has been chewing on her flight feathers on and off for three years. I am giving her a drop of diflucan for 10 days and probiotic once a week.

only feed fruit a couple of times a week when she is better ...fresh veggies and pellets are fine ..
No need to add vitamins if your little one is on pellets and eating a good supply of fresh veggies..
Get well wishes coming yourway from across the miles poor little fid (HUGS)

Yeast infections are pretty common in birds, I'm sure many of ours have one and we don't even know it. Do you use apple cider vinegar or grapefruit seed extract in drinking water? It helps to keep the natural levels in check. Also I feed Quincy a lot of hot chili peppers to, the capascin helps to ward off yeast.

Thanks, my aunt is always talking about the wonders of ACV. Wait till I tell her your suggestion. Do you use it on their feathers? Poncho only eats her pellets when I grind them in the coffee grinder and I add green vegetable powder. I hope she'll eat the roudybush pellets when they get here. Does anyone know about red palm oil applied to feathers?

You should never put anything on feathers at all, they need to be clean and fluffy in order to keep the bird warm. Red palm oil is used as a food additive, it's more important for African species such as Greys and also Hyacinth Macaws.

ACV is only used in the drinking water, you'll have to experiment to find the right water to ACV ratio that will work. If you notice Poncho won't drink then it's time to cut back. You can also try GSE too as some bird prefer it. They both have the same benefits.

Did you get the roudybush crumbles as they are small some what like a seed...
I add only a eye dropper full to the boys drinking cup of the ACV...they drink it o.k ..its good for humans too..
