When I first got Yoshi, Cosmo and her got along great. They would sit and preen each other for as long as I would let them. Then after about a week of having her they would get in little squabbles and go after each others feet, but this only lasted for a little period of time. Then they were fine with each other and always try to be together. Now Cosmo will lunge at Yoshi if she is in reach of him. It scares me when he does this so I dont let them together... if if they start to get close I will seperate them. Anyone have any idea why he could have started this behavior? They use to be such little lovebugs but not anymore sad.gif

How old are your birds?? It could be the onset of puberty/sexual maturity and/or the "fid terrible 2's" as I call it! They go through phases, just like the average teen-ager. One minute love bugs, next minute arch enemies- back and forth and eventually decide that they love each other, like each other, tolerate each other or want to kill each other.

Could also be seasonal. They are pretty much, just like us!

There could be a bunch of reasons- but those are the top 2 right off my head!

Awwwwww poor Yoshi , I guess Cosmo is just being dominant quakers can be little bullies, just keep an eye on them if they are out together and don`t leave them out unsupervised , I hope this behaviour settles down and they go back to beeing preening buddies... smile.gif

Pretty normal behavior, actually. My Quaker did the same thing with my Cockatiel. At first, they got along great, then after about three months, my QP started being very aggressive with the tiel. That was the end of that relationship.

Is there certain areas of the house where Cosmo is getting more aggressive? Is it when you are around? On the same play gym? What happens if you take them into your bedroom and let them play on the bed together?

Yoshi is just a baby only 5 or 6 months... I cant remeber her hatchday at the moment ohmy.gif and Cosmo is about a year and a half old I believe. Im not posative on his age the previous owners only told me he was just over a year.
He is agressive towards her anywhere. I have tried to have them out in all different parts of the house, but he still lunges at her.

Today when I walked into my room I happily saw Cosmo and Yoshi playing nice and preening happy.gif They got lots of praise and love for their good behavior smile.gif Maybe Cosmo was just goin through a phase?
