Full Version: New And Found Quaker And Lost Cockatiel In Florida
Quaker Parrot Forum > Welcome! > Introductions

We are new to this site and live in the Pensacola, Florida area and on October 13th my 4 year old cockatiel flew out the door due to a neighbor child holding our door open even though asked to close the door. We are devastated of course and posted signs everywhere, called the vet's offices, animal control, and placed an ad in the Pensacola News Journal. We are so sad without her. During this time we received a call from a woman that found a Quaker but could not keep him and asked me if I would like to take him in so I said yes. I am still searching for the owner but have not seen any missing/lost Quaker ads anywhere as of yet. The lady that found him said she called everywhere and put up signs too and had no response. So I am unsure if he is from this area, how long he was outside or anything. He says, "kiss, kiss" and then makes the kissing sound, pretty bird, laughs when we laugh and chatters up a storm. We are really enjoying his company and love him but hope to find his owners. I am sure they miss him he is very sweet! I am on this site to learn more about Quakers and hope to make some new friends too!

I hope you find your cockatiel. Hopefully, someone has taken her in like you took in the Quaker, and they'll see your signs or ad.

My first Quaker came to us as a lost bird, too -- he showed up in the yard one day and since we don't have wild Quakers in this area, we knew he was lost. I coaxed him out of the tree he was in and Hubby kept him company while I ran to the store for a cage and food and such, and we never found his former family. He could say several things and was very tame, so he must've belonged with someone, but they never came forward to claim him and he's my little green appendage now. Watch out -- that bird will steal your heart in no time! I'm absolutely besotted with Clyde and Jade, too, who came to us as a rehome.

Someone from Florida lost their quaker. I will search my PM and find his info. I believe he was from Daytona Beach, but can't remember and it has been months.
I am sorry you lost your teil. I hope you can find him.

Justin lost his bird in Oct of 2008, he lives in Daytona Beach.......this possibly could be his quaker. I know that he posted on Craigslist back in October and left his information on that site. I believe his quaker was older, about 9 yrs old.......I so hope this could be his bird????? If I have time, after work, I will search the Craigslist listing and see if I can find his information. I believe he would of posted it around the 10th or so of Oct......he hasn't been on this forum since April of 2009......

I lost mine about the same way. It was heart breaking, watching him fly around calling his own name.

I now have my sweet 3 year old Quaker, Max. We welcome you to this very friendly forum. biggrin.gif

I live all the way in Pensacola - Destin which is Northwest Florida by Alabama. Not to say that Justin's Quaker couldn't have made it here depending on when he lost him. But just wanted to let everyone know where I am located. Thanks for all the responses regarding my lost cockatiel. I am still searching for him and remain hopeful.
