The Quaker we just took in hates... I mean hates all food bowls. It doesn't matter if they are in the cage, out of the cage or near the cage. When he sees one coming he freaks out and runs towards the food bowl and attacks it. We have tried different colors, plastic, ceramic. It doesn't matter which kind or color. The plastic ones he will literally throw and shake them first even. I have found that he will eat from my hand just fine but it sure would be nice to have him eat from his bowl as well. Anyone have any suggestions or could tell me why he is doing this?

Both my quaker and senegal will attack any dish that isn't stainless steel. Have you tried SS?

Kiko does the same thing with plastic - which is weird because at the foster home she only HAD plastic. Maybe I picked the wrong colour? I also find that if her stainless steel bowl is empty she'll attack her reflection in the bottom. *sighs* I had read about Quakers having a thing for stainless steel toasters and what not, but this is silly! Hey... if I could get her to attack her reflection through water I might get her to accidentally bathe independantly!!! Wonder if I can buff a mixing bowl to a beatiful mirror-like finish....

Ok so I tried a stainless steel bowl and it worked!! No fights at all. He went right down to it and didn't throw it, flip it, attack it... nothing. Perched on the edge and ate his food in peace. How funny!
