I took Marla to get her wings clipped on my lunch break today. I guess I didn't close the travel crate all the way because as soon as I pulled the crate out of the car, she went flying to the top of the strip mall roof! Little stinker sat up there squawking and hollering while others on their lunch break came and went from the drug store, bike store, art store (you get the picture) and I stood on the side walk talking to the roof (they couldn't immediately see Marla.) People also felt the need to sit in their cars and watch the fun!
Finally, my wonderful bird groomer (what else do I call her?) came out and talked to Marla while another pet shop employee got out a BIG ladder for me. I set the ladder up at the back of the plaza, and in my work clothes, proceded to climb onto the roof, walk across the rooftop, and work my way to Marla. Marla was hollering the WHOLE time, I knew right where to set the ladder up
When Marla saw me coming across the rooftop she made kissing noises and when I finally got to her, stepped right up. I hollered to the groomer laughingly, "Now what do I do?" I had to stuff Marla in my top so I could get down the ladder!
Marla got her wings clipped and I made it back to work with 3 minutes to spare
MORAL of this story-I will not wait so long to get her wings clipped next time or will call ahead to get the ladder ready!
What a day! Never a dull moment with FIDS. Gotta love em!
t, marla and sunny
