Hi everyone,

It's official, me and my husband are going to get one more quaker, we are going to pick the baby this Sunday! I have been thinking about getting one more fid for ages, I just love them and I think that Dracek would love to have a friend and my husband doesn't object biggrin.gif so... well, if noone stops me then what can I do laugh.gif

We are going for a hand-fed blue baby and I do hope it is a healthy little chicken, we haven't seen it yet so we keep our fingers crossed.

I am only a bit worried about the quarantine, if we will manage it, the new QP will be in another room and I will probably stay there with him so he doesn't feel lonely, that will be tough because I will miss Dracek, but it has to be done. I don't want to take any risks.

And now I have to think about some good name... that is difficult huh.gif biggrin.gif

Congrats on the new baby. Sounds like you have it all planned out to integrate him into your flock. That's great. We want pics when you get him home biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh Congratulations ...how exciting ...don`t forget always fuss over Dracek first as he will be jealous and not like the new flock member if he feels he is being replaced.....

Congrats!!! Are you able to see the little chicken before homecoming? It helps to be acquainted prior to the move.

Well, it seems that this thread needs to be moved to "general pet bird discussion" biggrin.gif

The thing is that we didn't even make it go and see the blue QP we were planing to buy. On Friday I got an email from a local breeder (we saw his beautiful flock of parrots at a parrot exposition few weeks ago and I emailed him to tell him how wonderful they were) saying that we could come and visit if we liked. Well, you don't say "no" to a offer like that, do you? rolleyes.gif

And there was this beautiful yellowsided conure and he was just perfect with his little voice and everything. I just fell in love wub.gif So here he is, our little nippy boy Nessie biggrin.gif

Awwww..... he's stunning! If I hadn't been so taken by the quaker personality and if the rescue society had decided that they wanted me to work with one of the conures instead....

He's like a crayola box that grew feathers! Congrats!

What a cutie! Conures are a lot of fun- just steel yourself against the nippiness and don't let it get you down when it happens. And always keep a fresh bowl of water around- I swear my green cheek thinks he's amphibious! He hops in and splashes around at least 3 times a day!
Nessie is a cute name too. Congratulations!
P.S. I'm so sorry about your illness. MBS can strike any of us at any time. Once you've been exposed you are at risk for life- there is no vaccine or cure. we need to start a support group...
