I have the possibility of aquiring 2 cockatiels and was wondering if they would bond well with my Quaker buddy, "Little Max" ? I need an answer fast, so if anybody can reply to me quickly I would be very grateful. I don't want Little Max to become jealous. He's my baby and Dave loves him a lot.

That's a question without an easy answer! He might but again he might not. They might not want anything to do with him since they're already 2 and could be bonded. Your Quaker will probably like the added bird noise and activity though even if they don't want to hang out together.

Little Max may not bond with the tiels, but they may bond with each other AND you. Always treat Max as first bird, however, or he just may take an intense dislike to any newcomers. You don't really WANT him to bond with the tiels, then he'll figure he doesn't need YOU! dry.gif

I have a tiel and a quaker that cage together. they aren't buddies, just cagemates, but they don't pick on each other and it works. Most ppl say tiels and quakers not together, but it works for mine.

Welcome to the group. Many people have Qp's and Tiels that get along fine, but all creatures are different. There's No Guarantee!!! They may get on fine, or not. Play time should always be supervised. Little Max should always get (what ever) first. Removal of cage cover, and opening the cage, food, one-on-one time, etc.

Much better advice will be coming from other members. Keep checking back.
Larry Bird's Mom
My QP hates my tiels. He is extremely jeolous of them and can't be left out with them unattended.

Its really impossible to tell if he will get along with any other birds period.

But after having just read your other post. You might want to think twice yourself about cockatiels...Cockatiels are very dusty...just as much so as a cockatoo...if you have breathing problems already...you may not want to add this particular type of bird to the picture. The powder from their wings is so fine that it is really hard to keep it at bay...

Just wanting to give you a heads up to maybe save future problems.

Another species of bird that is very high in feather dust is your african greys...so that too is something to keep in the back of your mind.

Of course, I'm not saying you shouldn't get them...I'm just saying to really think twice about it because of your breathing problems...

My thanks to all of you for your advice.

That all depends on Max. Some don't blink an eye at new comers. So won't tolerate it. Be sure if it doesn't work you have extra time for both of them to be out separately. Be wary of their dander though if you have tender lungs.
