I know it seems simple, but I need to know if one regular U.S. Postage stamp will get mail to Canada. I've never done any mailing outside of the U.S. I ordered a DNA sexing kit from HealthGene and it came in and turns out the feathers we plucked have to be sent to Canada. I figured this was as good of a place as any to ask the question since I know there are several Canadian members. And I'm sure some Americans who know the answer. So please help me out. I'm ready to find out if we have a baby girl or a baby boy so we know what our little QP's name is going to be. Pretty bird can't be it forever!

I think you have to buy US stamps, but buy them in international values. There are different rates, but US postage works.

Just take it to the post office and let them take care of it.... Last year when I was sending out the calendars if was a little more expensive to send one calendar to Canada that it was to send 1 to some place here in the US. But then that could be just because it was considered a parcel...I think...depends on the size and weight.

I do think that's the best idea Dee. And believe it or not I never even thought of that! And I'm sure you're right, it shouldn't cost too much with the weight. And it was a hard pun to resist. So it's settled. I will just head to the post office and make them handle it! All I'll have to do is pay.

You need to take it to the US post office they have special stamps to mail to Canada. It has been a while since I had to do this but it was around .60 or so for one.

I do not know the answer, because whenever I have to mail anything I just package it and bring it to the post office. They weigh it, stamp it and mail it for me. lol

I have several friends in Canada, and you do have to take letters to the post office for them to put a special stamp on it. It costs about twice as much to send a letter to Canada.

On a side note...you better check with the post office to see if there are any restrictions to sending the DNA. I have a friend who tried to send some DNA samples (she did use blood samples though) to Healthgene last year and the postal service refused to send it due to the contents of the package (being blood products and all). So you may want to check with that first.

When in question, I just add another stamp?!?!?!?!?

I got it sent off and we should be getting the results within a week! Yay! It cost me 75 cents to mail the letter and the post office didn't really ask any questions about content. So it was sent. I used feathers anyhow so there was no issue of blood.
