I am so bored! Mommy and Daddy both have the flu so they won't take me out and play with me! Mommy goes back and forth from her bedroom to the kitchen, and mumbles something about how she loves me and wants to play with me, but then she doesn't take me out or pat me! Daddy's staying away in his apartment and I haven't seen him in days! I am so lonely and bored in my cage!

I glare at Mommy whenever she comes in the kitchen/living room area, but she just gets a sad look on her face, tells me she will be able to play with me soon, and shuffles back to the bedroom.

How come no one loves me anymore? Did I do something wrong? I don't think I did anything to make a bad parrot...I'm a good little Yodahead! So how come no one wants to play with me anymore?!

Will you play with me?

Poor Yoda sad.gif Mommy should let you come visit her in bed (or on the couch) for a few minutes. It would probably make both of you feel better to have a little snuggie time.
Tell her this would be a good time to switch your toys up a bit to help you entertain yourself while she's laid up.
Sure hope everyone gets better soon!

Hello, Yoda. This is Solomon. My mommy and daddy were sick a while back and they let me out of my cage for only a few minutes while they were laying down. They were afraid that I would get into trouble if left unattended- and they are right!!! Mischief is my #1 thing to get into!!! It is so much fun!

Now- I am usually out ALL day unless mommy and daddy have to go somewhere. So when I was cooped up it was like being in prison. Then mommy put some special food in my dish so I felt better. And- I got some neat new toys- a toilet paper tube hanging on my little laundry rack playground, and a coffee filter to chew up! It was fun to stay on the playground with these things to play with!

I loved my new toys- but I would have rather had their company.

That's people for you- they give us toys and think that it makes up for them not being there!
My mommy and daddy said that they will pray for your parents to feel better soon- just try to wait it out.
And remember to be nice to them when they get you out again.
God bless you,
Solomon

Yoda. Scooby here. Maybe I'm a bit older than you so I've seen this stuff before. Here are my suggestions:

1. As long as they feed you and water you, look sad and depressed when they come to your cage.

2. When they walk by you make the saddest noises that you can. I bet that they at least will make sad noises back. Or try to.

3. You be a strong fid. When they are healthy they are going to shower you with love. It's just a matter of time.

Now please excuse me, I just had a bath and I have to make really cute noises until they wrap me in a towel and feed me fresh pasta.

Warmest regards,

Scooby

Yoda. You should be very glad your mummy and daddy are staying away from you. There was an article in the newspaper here today on whether or not your pets could catch H1N1 flu (which is very busy going right through Toronto). Apparently birds are very susceptible to flu and can catch H1N1. They recommend you be very careful with your pets when you exhibit flu symptoms because next to your family your pet is next most close thing to you.

Yoda your mummy and daddy are looking after you and doing the best thing biggrin.gif

*grumble* I know you all are right. Mommy and Daddy played with me a little yesterday, and Daddy thankfully cleaned my cage! I've gotten new toys too!

Mommy let me out to climb all over my cage for a while just now too. She still won't handle me yet, and uses a lot of strong smelling antibacterial stuff before she touches anything she gives me, but I know she doesn't want me to get sick.

Thanks Solomon and Scooby, Way2bizzy and Horatio for your responses. They kept me amused and busy for a while!

I've decided to stop yelling so loud and let her sleep. She looks like she needs it. Hopefully Mommy will get better soon and go back to playing with me. I kind of miss her. But don't tell her. I have my Quaker rep to protect!

And Jaytee- come over anytime. I have lots of fun toys and pumpkin seeds...

Yoda, tell Mommy and Daddy to have a shot of Jamesons Irish Wisky. Whenever I get the early signs of a cold (like a sore throat) I have some of that and I feel so much better the next day. But don't you drink any! Jamesons is not for birdies!

Otherwise, hang in there. Mommy and Daddy can't play becuase they need their rest and they don't want to give you their germs. Tell them we hope they feel better.
xerxeys mama
xerxey and i will play with you. we both hope that mommy and daddy will feel better soon and fast!!!

I am so glad to have so many playmates! wub.gif

Mommy has been sitting on the couch instead of in her bedroom, it's nice to see her! She has also been letting me run around on top of my cage. I think she's starting to improve a little bit.

Thanks everyone for your responses! It makes my little Quaker heart happy to have friends!

It's ok Yoda, my mom had the swine flu for about 2 wks!! She finally got over it about a week ago. Be patient! Before long, everything will be back to normal. In the meantime be extra affectionate and comfort your Mama and Daddy. They need it.

Love,

Verde

Oh wow! I'm glad I didn't spend much time around Verde when I had it.
