Green quaker parrot found in Clearwater , Florida yesterday. I didn't find him but have him now. The lady who did find him couldn't keep him so I took him. I want to find his owners -he was obviously someone's pet. He is tame. His feathers are fine. He is very cage aggressive but once out of his cage- is very sweet.

Is he banded and I guess you've tried posting on the sites for lost birdies....I do hope you can find the owner, if not, are you going to prepare to keep him?....wishing you the best....

I listed him on craigslist and on parrot911. I have gotten a few calls -actually had someone come see him too but he wasn't their quaker. Everyone who has called says that their lost bird talks. This bird hasn't said a word- he's chirped and sqawked just. I'm waiting a few days to see if he does start talking. I have key phrases from all the people who called and am just going to try the phrases out with him the next few days. I did try earlier and he didn't even turn his head when I said them. I wish there was an accurate way to judge age. I think he's young- under a year or 2. The lady who actually found him thinks he is an older bird. He does do this weird head shake- it's not like the quaker baby shake- it's much lighter- I almost want to say it's because he's scared except it's just his head.
If no one claims him, I will keep him myself. He is very cage aggressive- he lunges at you when you just walk by the cage though he will take cheerios and sunflower seeds through the bars. he'll take other stuff too but just drops them. He is a little houdini too- I can already see how he might have gotten loose. Within 20 min in the cage, he was opening all the doors and flying across the room. As I was zip tying them, he was pushing them up while trying to bite me at the same time.
But once he's out on top of the cage-he'll step up and let you pet him. He's in pretty good shape so I don't think he's been on his own for long. I hope his owners won't mind but I clipped his wings after the 1st time he got out the cage door. We are always opening our back door for the dogs to go out and I am not letting him get loose again. He even eats pellets.
I'm not letting him near Sea at all just in case.
