My sweet Poopsie Marie slipped away from us on Friday morning. You may have read about her in the health forum - she started plucking and self-mutilating and she was 9 years old. I don't know what made her start, but just when we thought she was on the mend she opened herself up again and bled all night. By morning she was gone.
I can't stop crying and my partner and I miss her so much! The house is so quiet, and she's not here to greet the dawn.
I am so grateful for the time I had with her, especially the month while she was sick. I sat with her every minute I could, and whispered my love to her and gave her as many kisses as I had time to.
I will miss so many things about our time together.
Thanks to all of the people on the forum who responded to my request for advice.
Thanks also to Dr. Echols in Austin, TX who did everything medical science knew to do to help.

I too am so very sorry for your loss. You truely have my deep sympathy. I know the heartache and void you are feeling and will think of you in the days to come. I hope you may find it in your heart to love again when you are ready...in honor of the love you shared with your precious Poopsie Marie. I believe there is a place in heaven for all creatures...great and small.

im so sorry for your loss, i also had a mutilating parrot, it hurts so bad when they pass on. I hope your life continues on with many a happy memories of your sweet little one. always in your heart.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers and very kind words. I just am devastated. It's amazing to realize how integrated Poopsie was in my life. Everything I do, now I do without her on my shoulder. She doesn't wake me up at dawn, greet me when I come home, kiss me goodnight and a thousand other things.
I know this too shall pass. She was such a good bird.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and understanding. It's been a tough week. Everything reminds me of Poopsie. I still think I hear her in the mornings.
I know time will heal this wound, and until then I will just have to hurt.
