Hi Everyone!!!
I am so proud of myself, and I had to share.....
I made Max a new Playstand!! All the ones I saw available to purchase were kinda boring so I made this one. Max wasn't sure at first(typical FID)but now he loves it!
Here are some pics.....not bad for a girl,eh?

Hi everyone,
Here are the directions for the playstand.....
Supplies needed:
Dowelling -- 1.5 inch - 2 cut @ 24", 4 cut @ 12"
-- 3/4 inch - 2 cut @ 16", 1 cut @ 6"
-- 1/4 inch - approx. 24 cut @ 4"
Base is 3/4" plywood approx. 18" X 30" with 1 X 2" strips around edge to make a tray.
Rope -- 1/2" cotton approx. 10' in length
-- 5/8" cotton approx. 1.5' in length
-- 1/4" nylon approx. 4' in length
eye hooks 5/8" at least 12
wicker basket -- medium
wooden colored beads 48, big enough to go through 1/4" nylon rope.
8 large washers
2 "L" brackets 1/4"
ASSEMBLY:
Screw 1x2 strips around edge of base to form a tray.
screw from bottom of tray, the 2 pieces of 1 1/2", 24" long dowling at the mid point of tray on either side.
now screw the 12" pieces of 1 1/2" dowling at either ends, making sure that all six pieces of dowling line up and is square inside the tray.
Now scre the 16", 1/2" dowling to the top of the 2 end pieces of dowling to form a stand on either side.
Place a piece of 1 X 2 to fit snuggly for a support in between the two taller pieces of dowling and screw in place.
wrap 1/2" cotton rope around 2 tallest pieces of dowling, leaving 1" space between each pass around dowling. screw in place at top and bottom using screws and washers.
screw 6" length of 1/2" dowling betwenn end and middle supports(1 1/2" dowling). I used little "L" brackets it was easier.
Fasten 5/8" cotton rope in a swag fashion from highest dowling to end dowling using screws and washers.
To make rope ladder I drilled holes large enough to fit nylon rope through at about 1/8" in from each end of 4" lenghts of 1/4" dowling pieces, then strung rope through rungs at 2" apart, keeping them in place with wooden beads hot glued into place. Make sure you leave about 6" of space just roper in middle of ladder.
I then draped the ladder over middle of entire playstand and screw ends in place to keep taught.
Then I placed wicker basket on the top and screwed it to the 1 X 2 support using screws and washers once again.
And finally I screwed in eye hooks to the ends and sides of dowling or wherever I wanted a place to hang toys for Max.
I also used a 4" piece of 1/8" dowling and put 2 smaller eye hooks at each end and placed a role of adding machine paper onto it and used pipe cleaners to hang it to the underside of wicker basket.
TIP: Pre drill all holes so that dowling and 1 X 2 doesn't split!!!
I also made Max a LONG ladder about 3' in length using 1/2" square by 3' long wood and 1/8" x 4" long dowling. Just drilled holes about 1 1/2" apart in square dowling then glued and hammered rungs into place, clamping overnite untill glue dried. I then screwed 2 cup hooks into top end for hanging.
ENJOY AND LET ME SEE HOW YOURS TURNS OUT!

That is wonderful!!! I am going to save those directions for when we get a house! I can be all sorts of creative when it comes to jewelry and stuff, but when it comes to carpentry, I stink

Great job!

Thanks for the encouragement and kind words everyone. I have been seprated for over 7 years now and I learned to do alot of things on my own, some I had advice and others were trial and error lol. Its crazy but I have more power tools than some men(no offence guys, but this independant gal hates to be dependant on a man or anyone for that matter lol)...and yes I do have a few Ideas on selling these and other kinds of Play gyms.
I have also made Max a Hanging pyramid ring, as well as other toys and such.

Very creative items you have made. I am sure your fid loves it, I like the whole set up. I made one a few years ago, I need to dig it out and add a few more things to it to see if Alex and Tilley like it.
