I just lost my quaker parrot I got home from work and didn't notice anything. It isn't going to be fun when the girls wake up in the morning and Muffin isn't here anymore. He was only eight years old. My girlfriend brought home some parakeets from her work and they both died last week on the same day! And today my quaker died!! I'm so upset about it I can't even hardly believe it!!! What really makes me mad is I don't understand why. Three birds in one week! If anyone has any idea what could have happened in a situation like this please let me know. p.s. I will probably miss muffin the most!

It sounds like the parakeets had something and that your muffin got it.

So sorry to here about you losses, but it sounds like the parakeets might of been unwell and passed that on to your quaker. where the parakeets quarintined in another room when they came into your place?

The parakeets were hanging right next to him. My girlfriend brought them home so Muffin had some friends during the day.

It sounds to me the Keets where sick and by not quarantining them for 30 days your poor Quaker picked up what they brought into the home...JMO so sorry..

I have to agree with the others, sounds like the keets were carrying something and past it onto your Quaker.

So very sorry for your loss. I think the only way to know for sure is to have a necropsy to find out why they died. I would certainly lean towards the fact that the keets may have been ill.

Your girlfriend brought the keets home from work, does she work in a pet store? If yes it would certainly be wise to advise the pet store just in case some of the other FIDS are also sick.

What part of Oregon? Yep me, Betty, Rick and can't think of the other one's name, live in Oregon. Andie lives in Spokane and she is real good about finding Fids.

The only thing is you need to find out if those parakeets are ill or are carrying something before I would bring another FID into the house. JMO (just my opinion)
