Well I adopted a lovebird at 8 years of age - that was four years ago.

He passed away on Dec. 28 of 2005 - he was 12 years of age. His name was Pete, and he was a peach-faced love bird with bright coloring - most beautiful bird i've ever seen.

He used to take a shower in the sink, eat with us at the table, take showers with us, watch tv with us, read with us, and celebrate holidays (especially christmas with us).

Some of my most memorable events are when me, and my mother found a whole in his bottom beak. We thought that his beak was going to fall off, or it was deterorating - but we called the vet and they laughed and said it was fine - all birds had it (lol, didn't know that at the time).

He also loved to follow the grout line in the tile. He once followed is so far and fast he hit the carpet (where i meets the tile) and did a sumersualt.

He wasn't like a usual lovebird. He liked anyone who came to the door, he loved my whole family (all 5 of us) - although he hung out with me the most.

I now have a Quaker Parrot - her name is Lilly, and shes really awsome so far. Just like Pete (loving, peaceful, kind, and cute) but shes about 2x the size (which is what we wanted - a bigger bird).

Oh I am soooo sorry sad.gif
You must be heartbroke.
I am glad you are reflecting on the funny stories and good memories of Petie.
I myself freaked out when I saw the big hole in the bottom of my Picasso's beak. I did a search online and saved face that way.
It is with reluctance that I post it here with all my qp buddies finding out my secret. blush.gif wink.gif
Again, so sorry for your loss.

Welcome to the forum. I'm so sorry that you just lost your lovebird, Pete. Yet I'm glad that you have Lilly. When I lost my Jake I was fortunate to have my bird, Tory to help me get through the pain of the loss of Jake. I can't explain it but Tory helped me get through that heartache that friends and family just weren't able to do. I think Lilly can help you through this too.

All of these pictures are one that I took with my digital camera that I got for this christmas (2005). Pete passed away 3 days after christmas - so these are the only photos I have that can be put into digital format. He is so beautiful, and was such a good little poser for the camera.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

1st picture - This is a picture of Pete (1 day after christmas) getting out of his cage.

2nd picture - Pete is taking a bath (2 days from christmas) in my sisters Polly Pocket waterfall thing - this bird loved to play with Polly Pockets for some reason.

3rd picture - Pete is just so photogetic (as you can see in this picture). Here he was about to go play in my clothing draw (3 days from christmas).

Some other good memories of Pete are that he used to love to play with Polly Pockets, tear up paper (especially if we were writing on it), hang from my glasses, ride on the dogs back, sing with us, watch TV with us, do laundry with my mom, and vacum with my mom. Also everytime I would pack my suitcase I could never find him because he was always in the suit case running around looking at everything, and peeping. Then when I went to take him out he got all crazy, and he just really wanted to go where ever we went.
